Known across the solar system by her callsign ‘Blueberry’, Alyssa Carson represents the future of travel like no other. At just 18 years of age she is the world’s youngest astronaut-in-training, and on track to be the first person to set foot on Mars.
“My generation is closer than ever to space travel, and I’ve been dreaming of becoming an astronaut since I was three years old. I loved working on something that would inspire the next generation of travellers to push their boundaries.”
Alyssa’s training to date is already on par with that of astronauts more than a decade her senior: by age 14 she had attended seven space camps and three space academies, and in 2016 was the youngest person to be accepted to the Advanced Polar Suborbital Science in the Upper Mesosphere (PosSSUM) Academy, where she completed intensive training in microgravity, decompression, underwater survival and space suit handling, officially certifying her for suborbital space travel.
At just 12 years old Alyssa was invited by NASA to be on the MER 10 panel in Washington DC to discuss future missions to Mars. With so much experience in such a curious young mind, Alyssa was the perfect collaboration partner to explore space travel for the Future of Travel design study.
Fifty years after man landed on the moon, private space voyages are just around the corner, and with this new dawn of travel comes the need for product innovation. With so much experience in such a curious young mind, Alyssa was the perfect collaboration partner to explore space travel for the Future of Travel design study.
“We’re excited to be honouring this anniversary for both mankind and travel with Alyssa, who fearlessly represents space travel for future generations, as well as the idea of always going further – which is in our company’s DNA.”
